Terms

Last updated: April 2026

Meerbot is open-source software that you connect to via an MCP client. These terms cover how this hosted instance is offered. The operator of this instance may attach their own additional terms; in case of conflict, those override what is written here.

The service

Meerbot tracks URLs, captures snapshots of their content, and computes diffs across snapshots. It performs scraping on your behalf using a configurable ladder of backends.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Meerbot only to track pages you are authorized to access:

  • Respect the target site’s robots.txt and terms of service. Meerbot checks robots.txt before each scrape and refuses disallowed paths.
  • Meerbot only tracks publicly accessible pages — it does not log in to target sites or replay credentials on your behalf. Pages behind a login wall return as blocked; do not attempt to work around this by disabling robots-txt checks or using third-party scrapers in violation of the target site’s terms.
  • Do not use Meerbot to circumvent paywalls, license keys, or access controls.
  • Do not use Meerbot to surveil individuals, harvest personal data, or build a redistribution mirror of someone else’s content.
  • Stay within reasonable scraping volume. Plans cap protected-page credits (the Free plan as a one-time allowance, paid plans monthly); abusing that budget or hammering target servers is grounds for the operator removing your access.

Account & access

Access requires the operator to add your email to the allowlist. The operator may revoke access at any time without notice if these terms are breached.

No warranty

Meerbot is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Scraper backends can fail, target sites can change, snapshots can be incomplete — do not rely on Meerbot for time-critical or mission-critical workflows without your own monitoring on top.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the Meerbot authors nor the operator of this instance are liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid to the operator in the 12 months preceding the claim, or zero if no fees were paid.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version is always at /terms. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

Disputes are governed by the laws of the operator’s home jurisdiction. The operator listed at the URL where you signed in can clarify which jurisdiction applies to this instance.
